So, have you ever seen the movie "waking life"? If not, you should, as it deals with lucid dreaming... There is a part of the movie that talks about how to tell if you are in your 'waking life' or if you are having a lucid dream... If you are dreaming, you supposedly cannot alter lights, nor read a digital clock, so the guy says 'if you are wondering if you are having a lucid dream or not, try to flip the light switch or look at the clock..."
So, I'm having this dream in which I am in my childhood living room. Not sure what the context of the dream was prior to this point, but all the sudden I realize I am dreaming. I (at this point) had never had a lucid dream and had ALWAYS wanted to, so I got real excited. Immediately, I try to flip the light switch, and nothing happens. Then, I look over at a clock, and I can't read it- the number are all distorted! So, I start thinking, OK- what do I want to do?? But, got so excited, I woke myself up... boo... so funny, though. I have since had another lucid dream in which I levitated and all kinds of stuff, but I thought this would be a funny story to share. Moral of the story- don't get too excited if you are having a lucid dream. ha ha...

The giddy feeling does wake one up. But now your well on your way to some amazing lucid journeys. Good luck in your lucid dreams to come.
For me it started with floating, flying... and then it starts becoming so much more. Fun times to be had by all.

Re: funny lucid dream
Tue, February 26, 2008 - 6:06 PMI love Waking Life! It's in my top 5 favorite movies of all time. I've heard that when you are dreaming your mind is in very close to a conscious state, I'd imagine it's doubly so with a lucid dream. I'm often right on the edge of wakefulness when lucid dreaming, sometimes drifting in and out of sleep. It's so irritating when you wake up in the midst of a cool dream though! -

Re: funny lucid dream
Tue, February 26, 2008 - 9:15 PMIn one of the three Lucid dreams I've had so far, I was falling back asleep and heard a knock, five times, that woke me up but I was still dreaming. Yet I could feel my body, and explore my dreams. I explored many dreams and asked questions, receiving immediate guidance. Feeling my body took a back seat as I engaged the dream reality, though the feeling of being in both worlds was confusing at first. I thought to myself "am I dreaming, well, i can feel my body, but I'm still dreaming so I must be dreaming". I've heard of different kinds of lucid dreams, possibly with being in both at the same time. Any thoughts? -

Re: funny lucid dream
Wed, February 27, 2008 - 10:20 AMYeah, I have had such a wide range of lucid type dreams. Ranging from slight lucidity with mild control... to full on acute lucid hyper awareness and creating my dream as I go. The latter seems to be more astral and not physical, in terms of feeling my physical body.
When I do have the intense ones, I really have to remind myself that it is not my body that I need to move, it is my consciousness. I think and visualize what i want to happen, and it does.
