In my experience with Lucid Dreams, once I had them regularly,
it seemed as if I started out with an empty toolbox,
that fills itself with tricks, tools, skills and other usefull stuff as I had more regular LD's.
Like in a Zelda adventure, where you start out with some leggings and a wooden sword.
Once a technique seemed to work for me, it was as if these techniques would be
readily available on subsequent lucid adventures.
Most of mine aren't so unique, and I've lost the LD skill (pickin it up again)
so I'm interested to hear what you guys have going on!
-Reality-Checks; like backwards summersaults, swinging an arm through another, or quick turn of the head
-Changing scenery by creating doors and stepping through them
-Asking friendly dream creatures to meet me again the next night, or helping me 'awake'
-Transforming objects in my hand (into bottles of beer or spliffs :)
I've also read that it's possible to create a home in the 'astral', that will then always be there for your return.
That you can create doors in your home that lead to specific other astral places, and other cool stuff,
but I've never gotten that far (yet)...
Do you have an astral apartment, or unique tools, and tricks up your sleeve in the lucid dream world?

Re: What's in your Lucid Dream "toolbox"?
Wed, January 9, 2008 - 7:45 PMI have a set of reality checks (looking at hands, turning on/off lights, reading small print/clocks, etc.)
Have a portal area that's in the woods. The vast majority of my dreamscapes are surrounded by woods, so in nearly any dream I can go out to the boundary area and find my portal area. It has a bunch of archways (stone, bamboo) that allow me to choose different dreamscapes.

Re: What's in your Lucid Dream "toolbox"?
Sun, January 13, 2008 - 7:06 PMI use flying a lot in mine, or add doors for an escape. Sometimes I'll just change the whole dang scene to suit me for a better ending. lol -

Re: What's in your Lucid Dream "toolbox"?
Mon, January 14, 2008 - 6:10 PMThe first time I had a lucid dream I remember seeing my Bart Simpson piggy bank. When I grabbed it I became lucid! I was really impressed by the apparent humor of the situation! This same Bart bank has appeared in other dreams as well so it must be in my toolbox :)
this is a very interesting post...thanks Ramon!

Re: What's in your Lucid Dream "toolbox"?
Thu, January 17, 2008 - 3:14 PMI forgot about the lightswitches....but what to do in a natural outdoor scene?
Someone just told me about doing a reality check everytime he lights a cigarette, pretty smart.
I've also gotten real close to sneaking my lucidity across the border at night by looking at my hands during the hypnagogic stage.
Then, when you look up again, sometimes there's a vague scene starting.
Perhaps a DMT secretion? Does excitement secrete adrenalin, killing the DMT release?

Re: What's in your Lucid Dream "toolbox"?
Fri, January 18, 2008 - 12:08 AMflying, turning invisible, creating shields (to block anything, they're pretty sweet--good for getting rid of things attacking me and also for hiding)
your toolbox description fits my experience pretty well, once I've got something, its there.
oh and I've been developing the ability to read/write in my dreams as well, a few weeks ago I gave my email address to a few dreamers who were with me when I knew I was about to wake up
I don't have many tricks for checking if I'm dreaming and going lucid, I tend to just realize it. I check several times a day when I'm waking so that probably helps. -

Re: What's in your Lucid Dream "toolbox"?
Sat, January 19, 2008 - 10:15 PMreading and writing! yes, i found myself reading in many of my adventures when i want to get out of the dream or get more detail on characters. so, when I can write, too, very interesting things happen. unfortunately, writing hasn't moved me to greater control, yet anyway.

Re: What's in your Lucid Dream "toolbox"?
Thu, February 7, 2008 - 9:24 AMFlying and jumping really high. If I'm on an adventure, I can always materialize my own weapons and armor. I can change the topic of the dream if I get sick of it. And of course, always the ability to wake myself up if I get into a bad situation.

Re: What's in your Lucid Dream "toolbox"?
Wed, February 13, 2008 - 8:10 PMI agree with you about the toolbox, I've been having lucid dreams on and off since I was about nine, and there are certain tricks that you just have on command after a while. I can fly in any dream now, after having so many lucid ones. It's just a natural means for me to get around in dreaming, like walking. I can fly in a dream whether or not I'm aware that I'm dreaming. The newest thing that has become a part of my dream toolbox, is shape shifting, I really enjoy being an animal in my dreams, it can feel very empowering.
I'm not sure on how to build up your dream abilities. For me it just happens in phases, sometimes I'm really into my dreamtime, and make a lot of progress as a dreamer. Other times it's just not as large an influence in my life.
