Once when I was pretty sleep deprived (I had only had about 3.5 hours sleep for 3 consecutive nights) I had 5 false awakenings in a row. That was absolutely ridiculous... I very nearly was late for work.
For the rest of that entire day I had a sneaking suspicion that I was really -still- dreaming. That was a major event in my life in terms of deconstructing ontological certainty. I realized how easily one can be fooled into thinking that one is in a concrete reality.
After this (and a host of other bizzaro experiences) I am finally in a place where I am never completely certain about what is really going on ;-)
It is a baby-step I'm sure, but to me this was a major leap forward.
Warm Regards,
Ryan

Re: false awakenings and certainty
Tue, September 8, 2009 - 7:19 PMI once took an entire shower, shaved and all and didn't remember any of it........ I remember turning on the water... then, It's like I just woke up.. dripping wet, staring into the mirror..... I showered... like I said, it was apparent I shaved and my hair was washed... But I could not remember any of it, it was as if I was asleep..... -

Re: false awakenings and certainty
Tue, November 3, 2009 - 2:17 PMI'v always wanted to sleep deprive myself and see what happens. most of the craziest dreams, whether intense or lucid are more vivid the more sleep deprived we are.
I think that's an awesome leap forward!
Sometimes in my dreams im thinking..."this is as real as it gets" consequently when im awake im thinking..."is this is as real as it gets?"
dream on.
